Dermal Fillers should be regulated
Following the recent controversy surrounding PIP silicone breast implants there are moves within government to bring Dermal Fillers under regulation.
Ock Street Clinic supports any proposals to enhance the safety of dermal fillers in the UK, anti wrinkle treatments are generally very safe as long as they are prescribed and performed by qualified clinicians in properly regulated clinics. At Ock Street Clinic in Abingdon near Oxford our fillers and Botox treatments are provided by Ric Caesar who is an eminent oculoplastic surgeon and has detailed knowledge of the anatomy of the face so clients can be confident of expert safe treatment. Ock Street Clinic is CQC registered so patients also know the clinic is subject to outside inspection. Patients can benefit hugely from the skilled use of dermal fillers to treat facial wrinkles, tear trough filler for dark rings under the eyes, lip fillers for the small lines around the mouth and other examples.
There is now concern in government that Dermal Fillers could be the next major controversy in cosmetic surgery. Dermal Fillers are not regulated so in theory they could be injected by anybody whether qualified or not. There is concern that beauty therapists may be injecting Dermal Fillers putting clients at risk particularly if permanent filler is used (The Times, January 12th 2012).
